Mod ideas for UT 2003 – Movement and Weapons Trainer

Description

The idea here is to allow people to practice their movement and aiming skills in a structured manner and provide feedback on how well they accomplished each of the "training" tasks. The training tasks should include the following:

  • All combinations of jumping (allegedly one jump, one dodge, jump-jump, jump-dodge, dodge-jump, dodge-dodge, wall jump)
  • Firing all weapons at pop up/moving targets from a static (or small area)
  • Firing all weapons at pop up/moving targets while on the move (including combo and headshot tasks).
  • Teleportation practice (including double-teleporting).

Interested Scripters

If you are interested in developing this mod for UT2003 then add your name to the list. Once you start development you should indicate that below (and hopefully include a link to a journal page). Before you start development you should also check this section to see if anyone else has started.

Discussion

EntropicLqd: Inspired by the Half-Life "Hazard Course". I wonder if you could create a team based assault course race where two teams have to complete a set course really quickly and eradicate all targets on the way (but not the opposition.

Piglet: To me the idea of a assault race is much more intresting, however i think it would be better if the two teams could shoot at each other etc on the way to their goal, as well as facing obstacles, they would 'run' the same path

EntropicLqd: If the players only had the default weapons (assault rifle and sheild gun), either with infinite ammo or ammo on route, that would probably work. The Assault rifle does little damage and is fairly innefective, but can be used to inconvenience players on the other team. I'm not sure running the "same" route would be a good idea. Maybe having the routes side by side would work.

Piglet: I think you could have more weapons if you put some of them slightly off route, and i still think one route courses would work, you'd just need to be somewhat careful with the maps
